Practical Nursing - Overview
The Practical Nursing Program, established in 1964, offers a diploma in
practical nursing and eligibility to take the NCLEX-PN licensure examination. The
program is fully accredited by the
National
League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. and approved by the
New Hampshire Board of
Nursing.
The program of education includes organized instruction in
the scientific, technical, spiritual and social aspects of nursing, with
correlated learning experiences. Nursing career mobility opportunities are also provided.
Practical Nursing
Program
The practical nursing program offers the choice of 4-semesters in Nashua beginning in September or accelerated
3-semesters beginning in May in Keene.
The program is designed to lead to a diploma in practical nursing. The
curriculum consists of 42 credit hours of theory, 1 credit hour of lab, and 12
credit hours of
clinical experience. Classes are held Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am
to
3:00 pm in Nashua and 8:00 am to 4:00 pm in Keene.
Practical
Nurse
Refresher Course
This course assists the Practical Nurse to re-enter the work force. The 148-hour curriculum has been designed to meet the needs of the
Practical Nurse who has not been active in practice. A temporary license must be obtained from the
New Hampshire State Board of Nursing prior to the start of the course.
